Purple Hibiscus Reasponse

In the book, Purple Hibiscus, I have learned a lot about Nigerian culture. The food, language, and customs are all interesting and different from American culture. I really think it's cool when the family switches form English to Igbo. Another interesting part of this book is what goes on in the house. The father is strict, has zero tolerance for anything, and is involved with his kid's lives too much. An example of this is when the daughter got second in her class and the father drove to school, looked for who beat his daughter, and gave his daughter a speech about being the best. Overkill.

I don't want this to be taken the wrong way, but I always think that the father abusing his wife "interesting", for lack of a better word. It's an awful thing and is affecting the kids, which is the "interesting" part in my opinion; watching how they react through the daughter's eyes. This is a reading response on Purple Hibiscus.
