Purple Hibiscus Reasponse

In the book, Purple Hibiscus, I have learned a lot about Nigerian culture. The food, language, and customs are all interesting and different from American culture. I really think it's cool when the family switches form English to Igbo. Another interesting part of this book is what goes on in the house. The father is strict, has zero tolerance for anything, and is involved with his kid's lives too much. An example of this is when the daughter got second in her class and the father drove to school, looked for who beat his daughter, and gave his daughter a speech about being the best. Overkill. I don't want this to be taken the wrong way, but I always think that the father abusing his wife "interesting", for lack of a better word. It's an awful thing and is affecting the kids, which is the "interesting" part in my opinion; watching how they react through the daughter's eyes. This is a reading response on Purple Hibiscus.

Cade-Umbrella KC-Poem

Poetic elements in songs

Song : Umbrella, Jay Z and Rihanna,  www.metrolyrics.com/umbrella-lyrics-rihanna.html Alliteration: used in song to say "Good girl gone bad"; the g is repeated a lot. Consonance: used in song to say "Jay, Rain" and "anticipation for precipitation"; the similar sounds are repeated. Metaphor: "when the sun shines, we'll shine together"; this implies how close these two people are. Assonance: the word "I" or "I'll" is a repeated vowel sound throughout the entire song. Hyperbole: "told you I'll be here forever"; forever is an exaggeration used for emphasis on how long she will wait. Imagery: "under my umbrella"; this just makes me imagine two people standing under an umbrella on a rainy day. This song contains a large amount of poetic techniques, the most relevant being alliteration, consonance, metaphor, assonance, hyperbole, and imagery. Believe it or not, all of these are repeated m

Custom Poem

After watching the movie, Luke Skywalker had sweet dreams. Severus Snape went to Bed Bath and Beyond, because he needed new furniture. Russell Wilson wanted the baseball, after failing at being at football. Slim Shady is an imaginary character, who's ability to rap seems extraordinary. This random poem doesn't make sense, because it's sole purpose is to contain poetic techniques. Techniques used: Assonance, consonance, alliteration, sibilance, stanza, and imagery.

Saad- Fortnite Robert- Fortnite

Fortnite

Fortnite is a very popular game that is being played by millions of people all over the world. I am one these people. In Fortnite, you start off with your friends and jump out onto a large map. There are several marked locations on this map, all having different kinds of "loot." This loots consists of a large array of guns, ranging from pistols to sniper rifles. You try to collect loot and fight everyone else in a "hunger games" style. Another form of looting in Fortnite is by collecting materials. There are three types of materials: wood, brick, and metal. You mine all of these using a pickaxe of your choice. You can also change your outfit. The whole point of Fortnite is to get a Victory Royale, or a win. To do this you need to take down all of the other players in a hunger games style of fighting.

LAUNCH Response

I liked listening to Scott Wicker's presentation because of how interesting it was. After reflecting on Launch day, it seemed like Scott's presentation was the only one that solved a problem. Scott's topic was on Nano particles and using them to make plastic. The Exxon plant uses materials to make plastic that are expensive, take too much time, and are toxic. Scott has an alternative: using rust Nano particles to make plastic. After a series of complicated equations, Scott determined that his Nano particles, that he made himself, could already work more efficiently than Exxon in a shorter amount of time. This is a short summary of Scott's LAUNCH Presentation.
