Dear __ Year Old



Dear 12 year old, go on the hunting trip. Even though it seems like a bad idea, you should really go. You may not know it now, but that trip will help you succeed in so many more ways than you could imagine. Also, whenever you're there, try not to go 50 mph on a 4-wheeler on a steep path in the woods. Does NOT work out well in the end.

Dear 10 year old, remember Jeb. After he's gone forever, you don't want to barely be able to remember him because I took him for granted. And remember to stay close to Jeb because he can really make life better. Just keep a picture of him, or just spend more time with him everyday. It will impact in a good way, I promise.

Research Update

My research topic is pretty much "How bad were the Conquistadors to the Native Americans?" The main focuses of my research are Christopher Columbus, Hernan Cortes, Francisco Pizarro, and Las Casas de Bartolome. So, Christopher Columbus was the man who(probably)discovered the Americas. He treated the Natives in an odd way. He first screwed the Natives over by trading them pennies for land, essentially. Then Columbus made a "law" that prohibited unfair trading with the Natives. Even though this obviously didn't last, at least he tried. Hernan Cortes was a man who desired fame and fortune. So, he became an explorer and sought the city of gold. Cortes ended up finding the Aztecs, taking their riches, killing their leader, conquering the city of gold, and becoming very powerful. Francisco Pizarro was a man with a very interesting story. Analyzed Section: Piggy's Death(180-181) Right before Ralph hears the rock, while everyone is shouting and arguing, the narrator focuses on Piggy for a split second, saying "By him stood Piggy, holding out the talisman, the fragile, shining beauty of the shell." This sentence shows how in the midst of all the chaos and anger, the conch and all of its order is still there. But then after the conch is "shattered into thousands of tiny fragments", all of the peace and order was lost. And Piggy, the only one who still believed in the conch, had been destroyed just like the conch. Another thing to note right before Piggy's death is how personification is used when describing the boulder rolling down the mountain. The passage goes, "... and he flung himself flat while the tribe shrieked." Interesting Things in LOTF

While reading "Lord Of The Flies" , I have found some things that are very interesting and very puzzling. So, to start things off, the interesting things. Probably the most fascinating part of this book is how these boys managed to stay alive this long. These are just 12 and 6 year old boys who did things like sing in choirs before the crash. Another interesting thing is the way Jack is becoming crazy. I find it intriguing to read these chapters nd slowly watch him transform and only Piggy has really taken note of it. Now onto the puzzling things. By far the most puzzling part of the book is how Piggy is treated. He is the smartest kid there and is treated no better than the littluns. I do believe that he will eventually become valuable to everyone there, but so far he just gets bullied and people steal his ideas. The last thing I have to point out is how the "hunters" are all following Jack when trying to kill pigs, and only Simon and Ralph are doing important t
